Port of Newcastle is advising the community that it will close the Northern Breakwater at Stockton for necessary refurbishment works from W/C 20 November.

The work is part of the Port’s commitment to maintaining the shipping channel and safe public access to the Northern
Breakwater.

The works include installing 445 tonne of igneous rock ballast along the edge of the pathway in various locations along the Breakwater and installing over 1530 tonne of igneous rock to build a protective toe and armour protection at the entry of
the Northern Breakwater.

It will not be safe for community to access the Breakwater during refurbishment works.

The Breakwater is expected to be inaccessible for a period of around four weeks, with works expected to be completed by December 15, weather permitting.

We recognise that the closure of the Northern Breakwall will be inconvenient for regular visits to this area. Port of Newcastle apologises for any inconvenience and looks forward to reopening the refurbished Breakwater as soon as works are complete.

Community members can contact Port of Newcastle for further information via emailing Community@portofnewcastle.com.au or phoning the Project Team on (02) 4908 8200.
