Rail Access

Port of Newcastle’s connection to the national rail network is a critical component in providing an efficient, sustainable and competitive freight supply chain.

Over 95% of port trade is moved by rail, and with direct access to the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) network, Port of Newcastle is connected to Western Australia, South Australia, Queensland and Victoria.

To view rail connections from the Port of Newcastle, visit the ARTC’s Hunter Valley Corridor page.

The Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communication also provides a spatial map of national key freight routes.
