Port of Newcastle is calling on the community to help #NameOurCranes, ahead of the arrival of its two brand new Liebherr LHM 550 mobile harbour cranes.
The $28.4-million cranes are currently on their way from Germany to Newcastle onboard general cargo ship UHL Fighter, after leaving Rostock Port last month.
In preparation for their arrival, Port of Newcastle asked local primary school students around the port boundary to compile a list of names worthy of the impressive structures.
The Newcastle community now has the chance to decide the final two names, which will be added to the cranes once they are commissioned at the Port’s versatile Mayfield 4 berth later this year.
The public can vote for their favourite crane name via the survey below. Voting closes midnight Friday 22 July 2022.
