Port of Newcastle staff try out one of the new 2022/23 Newcastle Jets kits
Two Hunter icons will again by bonded by gold for the 2022/23 A-League season, with Port of Newcastle renewing its Major Partnership with the Newcastle Jets.
“Port of Newcastle is proud to again partner with the Newcastle Jets to support both the women’s and men’s A-League teams for the upcoming season,” Port of Newcastle CEO Craig Carmody said.
“The Port and the Jets are symbolic of the region, so it’s great to have two local organisations coming together to support one another for the benefit of not just football fans, but the broader Hunter community.
“What people might not know is that the Port has a long association with supporting football as some of the first wharfies to work here were part of social football clubs and would kick the ball around after work.
“Today, we continue to have a strong supporter base among our staff, who I know will be keen to join the Squadron in cheering on the Jets from the sidelines and we wish both the men’s and women’s teams success for the season ahead.”
The Major Partnership will see the Port’s blue and gold logo feature on both the men’s and women’s home kit as part of a renewed design.
“The club is very pleased to know that we have the continued support of a great sponsor and importantly an organisation that makes a strong contribution to this region here in Newcastle and throughout Northern NSW,” Jets executive chairman Shane Mattiske said.
“We also appreciate the Port of Newcastle’s continued significant support of both men’s and women’s A-League teams.”
The Jets men’s 2022/23 season kicks off with a derby against the Central Coast Mariners in Gosford on Saturday 8 October. The women’s team plays Brisbane Roar at Perry Park on Saturday 19 November.
