Port of Newcastle plans to construct a 3,000m2 industrial warehouse development on vacant land at 70 Raven Street Kooragang. Located within an existing industrial precinct, the clever design maximises flexibility to cater for a wide range of uses, so it can be used for high clearance warehousing or other heavier industrial uses.
The flexibility in design also provides the capability of being divided into two separate tenancies.
A development application for the warehouse has been lodged with NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (DPIE). Should the proposed development be approved, construction would take approximately 6 to 8 months from commencement.
This significant port investment represents one of several initiatives Port of Newcastle is undertaking to diversify and grow the Hunter Region’s economy.
It provides new or existing businesses to be located in a strategic industrial precinct, with access to Port facilities and national freight road and rail networks.
Port of Newcastle is well-placed to help stimulate the local economy and is exploring port-related developments and new trade opportunities. The Port’s unique capabilities offer a real competitive advantage – Newcastle has a deepwater shipping channel, capacity to double trade volumes, vacant portside land, and berth-side connections to freight rail and road networks. These are capabilities few ports in Australia can match.
The port has incredible potential and it is Port of Newcastle’s responsibility to help realise it in a safe and sustainable way for the benefit of current and future generations.
