Walsh Point will now be known as the home of Port of Newcastle’s Bulk Precinct, the East Coast’s leading destination for the import, export and storage of a variety of bulk and liquid bulk products.
Kooragang Precinct will now be referred to as the Energy Precinct, positioning Newcastle as a leading hub for all traditional and future energy products, including coal, gas, hydrogen and renewables.
Carrington Precinct has been renamed the General Cargo Precinct, showcasing Port of Newcastle’s ability to handle all cargo types, including break bulk and RORO, within this diverse and dynamic footprint.
The establishment of Port of Newcastle’s new Marine Services Precinct highlights the ship building and maintenance capability that has operated in this area for many years, with opportunities future expansion.
Reflecting the multi-purpose nature of the existing operations within the Mayfield Precinct and as plans progress around the development of the former BHP site, this area will now be known as the MDT Precinct.
