Port of Newcastle has launched a new partnership with Smiling Mind to enhance the mental health and wellbeing of its people.
At the heart of its operations are the people that work at Port of Newcastle, and that is why ‘Wellbeing’ is one of the Port’s four key values.
The current COVID-19 situation has presented a number of new challenges for employees and workplaces which can have an impact on mental health.
With many of the Port’s office-based staff working from home, the decision to incorporate Smiling Mind’s corporate wellbeing program is another way the Port can support the health and wellbeing of its people.
Research shows that mindfulness can help staff take a pre-emptive approach to managing their mental health, stress and their emotions in the workplace.
This program provides employees the opportunity to harness the benefits of mindfulness both at work and in their personal lives. All Port of Newcastle employees will have the chance to participate in live workshops with Smiling Mind’s mindfulness experts and access its award-winning app and exclusive workplace content for much needed ongoing support.
The launch of the Smiling Mind workplace program follows the introduction of a Mental Health First Aid Training program in December 2019.

Established in 2012, Smiling Mind exists to improve the mental health, wellbeing and resilience of Australians through the regular practice of mindfulness meditation.
