Information for Contractors

Port of Newcastle is changing the way it manages contractors and sub-contractors directly engaged by Port of Newcastle.

Our focus is on ensuring compliance and best practice in Work Health and Safety (WHS).
The new Contractor Management Procedure involves a qualification process. Contractors are required to provide information on work, health and safety management systems and environmental management standards for evaluation. Once qualified, contractors will be added to Port of Newcastle’s pre-qualified contractor list.

What you need to know
  • Contractors will be categorised based on the type of work undertaken. For example, contractors undertaking high risk operational work will be required to complete a separate qualification to contractors performing lower risk activities. There will be additional requirements for sub-contractors.
  • If you are unsure about your category, please discuss further with the Port of Newcastle representative you have been engaged by.
