Port of Newcastle benefits from direct connections to major road and rail networks, extending to Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Dubbo and all regional centres.

The Port is located within a market population catchment of 6 million and within 3 hours of Sydney metro catchment areas.

Port of Newcastle caters to the unique shipping needs of project cargo, working closely with freight forwarders, stevedores, transport and heavy haulage companies to customise a solution to deliver efficiencies and cost savings for the cargo owner.

Heavy lift project cargo operations have the flexibility to occur at three open access berths: West Basin, East Basin and Mayfield.

The West Basin berth is unique on the Australian eastern seaboard with its berth-side rail connections to and from the national rail network.

All three berths are in close proximity to large parcels of portside land, with short and long term storage of varying sizes available close to berths.

Direct connectivity from staging point to national road and rail network to your project location means less cargo movements, saving timing and money.

The Port of Newcastle has tremendous potential and capacity to grow.

The Port itself is full of opportunity, with 200 hectares of vacant land and a shipping channel which can handle double the current ship numbers.
