Royal Caribbean's second largest cruise ship in Australia, Explorer of the Seas, is scheduled to visit the Port of Newcastle twice in February 2019.
The luxury cruise ship carries up to 3,900 passengers - the most passengers to visit the Hunter region to date. With construction also due to begin on the cruise terminal next year, the Port of Newcastle will soon be entering a new era of mega cruise ship travel.
On 18 May 2017, NSW Planning Minister, Anthony Roberts, and the Federal Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science, Senator Arthur Sinodinos, visited the Channel Berth for the announcement.
