2017 Community Partnerships Program recipients
  • Newcastle Micro Theatre - major sponsorship of the 2017 Newcastle Micro Theatre event. Port of Newcastle partnered with Newcastle Micro Theatre for the first time in 2016, supporting Newcastle Micro Theatre to grow its profile nationally and attract more entrants.
  • Newcastle Rowing Club - the Port of Newcastle continued its support for the 2017 Regatta, providing in-kind assistance via the survey and marking of the rowing course. The Port has been providing assistance to Newcastle Rowing Club's annual Regatta for over 20 years.
  • Rotary Club of Newcastle - the Light Up Newcastle Festival will be back in February 2018 and Port of Newcastle is pleased to once again be sponsoring this free, family-friendly event along the Newcastle Foreshore.
  • Soul Café - Port of Newcastle will partner with NCIG and Orica to fund a new walk-in fridge and freezer unit for the Soul Café in Hunter Street, Newcastle.
  • Stockton Historical Society - funding for the replacement of the shipwreck historical sign on the Stockton breakwater.
  • Science & Engineering Challenge - Port of Newcastle continues its sponsorship of the Challenge, a successful program engaging high school students in a competition that promoting STEM study and career pathways.
  • Lynch's Hub - the former Lynch's Prawn's site is being transformed into a community hub and Port of Newcastle will contribute towards a development of a community bicycle workshop.
  • Cooks Hill Surf Lifesaving Club - sponsorship of a refugee and indigenous community outreach program.
  • Newcastle Music Festival - sponsorship of the Newcastle Music Festival, back for its second year following a successful inaugural event in 2016.
  • Nobbys Surf Lifesaving Club - the Club's New Wave Nippers program supports children with special needs in learning water safety and familiarising themselves with the beach. Port of Newcastle's support will enable Nobbys SLSC to purchase additional specialised equipment to continue rolling out the program to more participants.
  • Camp Quality - Port of Newcastle will provide funding towards the purchase of giant games used by Camp Quality facilitators at their recreation events and camps.
  • Variety - the Spin4Kids fundraiser will be held along the Honeysuckle Foreshore in August and Port of Newcastle will provide sponsorship to support the running of the event.
  • Cardiff North Lakes Brass Band - funding towards venue hire to support the Cardiff North Lakes Brass Band which has been performing in the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie area for 44 years.
  • Lambton Waratah Scouts - funding for the purchase of new tents.
  • Hunter Animal Watch - a donation towards Hunter Animal Watch, which assists with the costs of de-sexing pets for low income households.
  • Reach Homeless Services - a donation towards Reach Homeless Services, which provides a food and outreach service in Hamilton on Friday evenings.
